My testing methodology will be as follows:

  1. Keep things simple. One of the primary goals is to allow people to see and understand as simply and clearly as possible, what effects different foods have on my body’s glucose and keytone levels.
  2. Measure my blood glucose and keytone levels before having a meal.
  3. Taking a clear picture of exactly what I eat.
  4. Recording the time of eating
  5. Measure blood glucose and keytone levels 1 hour after finishing eating.
  6. Measure blood glucose and keytone levels 2 hours after finishing eating.
  7. I will then fast until my glucose level comes back to the pre-test state, and monitor when keytones start to appear again.

Purpose of the testing

The purpose of the testing is to record:

  • What different foods, meals, etc have on my bodies glucose and keytone levels,
  • How long those levels last: How long is my body in fat storage mode(high glucose, low keytone level) , vs fat burning mode (keytone levels start to rise).

My hope and goal is that with these simple test and results, people can begin to consider what effect different foods have on their bodies.

My results will differ from your results, so I encourage you to perform your own tests and see how your body handles different foods.

Based on my understanding of weight gain/loss and in turn general health can be determined by the following factors:

  • What you eat. Different foods affect the body’s insulin level differently. Foods that raise glucose levels will cause insulin levels to increase, as the body tried to deal with the insulin, and this in turn reduces keytone levels.
  • As the body deals with the glucose, keytone levels stay low, insulin levels stay high and in turn the body is in fat storage mode.
  • Once the body has processed the glucose, insulin levels go down, keytone levels rise again, and the body goes into fat burning mode.

Testing Equipment

To start with, I am using the Keto Mojo Blood Glucose and Keytone test kit. This is a simple to use and affordable device that I can easily test my glucose and keytone levels, and one that anyone should be able to afford and use.

You can find it here on Amazon here :

Ratios

For the tests, I calculate 2 ratio values.

Dr Boz Ratio:

The Dr Boz Ratio is a value taken from Dr Boz. Details of how the ratio is calculated can be found here. It is calculated using the formula Glucose / Keytone = Dr Boz Ratio.

Dr Boz Ratio Effect Autophagy Indicator
Less than 80 Weight Loss Might Get Autophagy
Less than 40 Immune System Solid chance of Autophagy
Less than 20 Cancer Fighting Best chances for Autophagy

GKI Ratio:

The GKI Ratio is calculated using the formula here: (Glucose / 18) Keytone = GKI

GKI What is means Application
<= 1 Your’re in the highest therapeutic level of ketosis Very difficult to acheive without doctor’s supervision.
1-3 You’re in a high therapeutic level of ketosis For those using keto therapeutically for the treatment of diseases, such as cancer, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, and chronic inflammatory disease.
3-6 You’re in moderate level ketosis. For those with Type 2 diabetes and obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic or endocrine disorders.
6-9 You’re in a low level of ketosis Ideal for weight loss and  health maintenance
>= 9 You’re not in ketosis. N/A
