Introduction:
What would a beef and broccoli meal do to glucose and keytone levels?
The Meal:
Egg Drop Soup
Beef and Broccoli
Date | Time | Glucose (mg/dl) | HCT % | Hb g/dl | Keytone | Dr Boz | GKI | Comments |
8/5/2019 | 1:00pm | 79 | 25% | 8.5 | 1.2 | 65.8 | 3.7 | Almost 24hrs fast |
2:45pm | 139 | 25 | 8.5 | 0.4 | 347.5 | 19.3 | 1 hour after meal
3:45pm | 90 | 35 | 11.9 | 0.4 | 225.0 | 12.5 | 2 hours after meal
8:30pm | 84 | 39 | 13.2 | 0.7 | 120.0 | 6.7 | 7 hours after meal, keytones starting to change

Ratios
Reviewing the Ratios from this test:
Dr Boz Ratio:
The Dr Boz Ratio is a value taken from Dr Boz. Details of how the ratio is calculated can be found here. It is calculated using the formula Glucose / Keytone = Dr Boz Ratio.
Dr Boz Ratio | Effect | Autophagy Indicator |
Less than 80 | Weight Loss | Might Get Autophagy |
Less than 40 | Immune System | Solid chance of Autophagy |
Less than 20 | Cancer Fighting | Best chances for Autophagy |
For this meal, we can see that the Dr Boz started in the middle level, possibly in autophagy, but 1 hour after the meal, had jumped well above 300, out of the weight loss range and stayed high well after I woke up the next morning. I was clearly not in weight loss mode by the time most people would normally have breakfast, and add to the weight storage mode.
GKI Ratio:
The GKI Ratio is calculated using the formula here: (Glucose / 18) Keytone = GKI
GKI | What is means | Application |
<= 1 | Your’re in the highest therapeutic level of ketosis | Very difficult to acheive without doctor’s supervision. |
1-3 | You’re in a high therapeutic level of ketosis | For those using keto therapeutically for the treatment of diseases, such as cancer, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, and chronic inflammatory disease. |
3-6 | You’re in moderate level ketosis. | For those with Type 2 diabetes and obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic or endocrine disorders. |
6-9 | You’re in a low level of ketosis | Ideal for weight loss and health maintenance |
>= 9 | You’re not in ketosis. | N/A |
From the GKI ratio, I started out well in the high therapeutic level of ketosis, but clearly went out of range until the following morning. The GKI index shows I was in moderate level of ketosis by the following morning.
Conclusion
- The rise in glucose was less than I expected, probably because the meal was mostly meat and vegetables, with a small portion of rice/carbs.
- The egg drop soup tasted sweet, so I think they added sugar to the soup.
