Rock Bottoms Fish and Chips Test

The Test

What effect does a Fish and Chips meal have on the body glucose and keytone levels?

One of my favorite foods has always been Fish and Chips. So I wondered, what effect a meal would have on my body.

First we would start off with some Appetizers:

Add some Rockin Guac

The Main Course: The Fish and Chips:

And to Drink, only a glass of water.

Questions to be answered:

So what effect would this meal have on my body?

And how long would it take for my body to process the carbs and sugars from this meal and get back to my pre-meal state?

Ratios

Reviewing the Ratios from this test:

Dr Boz Ratio:

The Dr Boz Ratio is a value taken from Dr Boz. Details of how the ratio is calculated can be found here. It is calculated using the formula Glucose / Keytone = Dr Boz Ratio.

Dr Boz Ratio Effect Autophagy Indicator
Less than 80 Weight Loss Might Get Autophagy
Less than 40 Immune System Solid chance of Autophagy
Less than 20 Cancer Fighting Best chances for Autophagy

For this meal, we can see that the Dr Boz started in the middle level, possibly in autophagy, but after the meal, it had jumped well out of any beneficial range, and stayed high until the following morning.

GKI Ratio:

The GKI Ratio is calculated using the formula here: (Glucose / 18) Keytone = GKI

GKI What is means Application
<= 1 Your’re in the highest therapeutic level of ketosis Very difficult to acheive without doctor’s supervision.
1-3 You’re in a high therapeutic level of ketosis For those using keto therapeutically for the treatment of diseases, such as cancer, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, traumatic brain injury, and chronic inflammatory disease.
3-6 You’re in moderate level ketosis. For those with Type 2 diabetes and obesity, insulin resistance, metabolic or endocrine disorders.
6-9 You’re in a low level of ketosis Ideal for weight loss and  health maintenance
>= 9 You’re not in ketosis. N/A

From the GKI ratio, I started out well in the high therapeutic level of ketosis, but after the meal, and for almost 24 hours afterwards, I had not returned to the pre-test levels.

Additional Comments

The appetizers were shared with my wife and daughter, but I probably ate the majority of the crab dip and bread.

During the night, I had noticed some bloating in my stomach, as well as  cramps, and also a dry mouth. I probably drank around 4-5 cups of water after the meal, and my mouth still felt dry.

I also  noticed after eating the meal, I never really felt full, satiated.

Summary of Test

From this test I can see that a meal of Fish and Chips:

  • Has a huge effect on my glucose level, which lasted for longer than 4 hours
  • Almost 24 hours after the meal, I was still not back to my pre-test levels.
  • By the following morning, my keytone levels had started to rise again, signaling that I had burned off the sugars from this meal, and had started to go back to fat burning mode.

Conclusion:

Since this meal was in the afternoon, if I had the meal at dinner time, and then woke up and had a normal breakfast, I would have probably still been in fat storage mode. So the breakfast would have been added fat to be stored.
