This test was a little different. This was not an eating test, it was an exercise test with added Keytones.
I wanted to see what effect adding only Keytones would have on my swim performance, and also on my glucose/keytone levels.
For this test, I added the following keytone supplement to my morning tea, before going for a swim. During the swim, I also drank the tea between sets of laps.
Ketond Advanced Ketone Supplement
Normally, I would swim 50 laps in about 30 minutes on the week-end. On this morning I woke up after not having a good night’s sleep, and I was not too excited to go for a swim. But, for the sake of science, I thought I would do this test.

Conclusion
Several things I learned from this test.
- First, after I added the keytone to my normal morning tea, I felt like I had much more energy. When I started the day, I knew I did not have a good night’s sleep. Normally when this happens I don’t have the energy to get up and do 50 laps swimming. But by adding the keytone, I not only had the energy to do 50 laps, but I did 100 laps in about 1 hour, and I still had energy to spare.
- What I certainly did not expect, is 24 hrs after fasting, my keytone level shot up to 7.0. I do not know what explains this effect. Was it the fasting or was it the added keytones. I’ve fasted before and never has my keytone level been that high.
Normally, when I fast, I have a lot of extra energy, and I end up doing a lot of house/yard work. The effect of adding the keytones where seem to accentuate this effect, giving me more energy for the swim than normal and also extra energy afterwards.
But what caused my keytone level to continue to rise so that the following morning it was 7.0 measured with a blood test?
I will test doing the same exercise/fasting, but without the added keytones, and see what effect it has on my keytone levels 24hrs after the swim.
